About the position
The Paving Foreman is responsible for supervising a construction crew, scheduling work, and assisting with labor as needed. This role requires strong leadership skills to maintain crew discipline, resolve conflicts, and foster teamwork. The Foreman ensures that projects are completed satisfactorily while maintaining safe working conditions and managing tool inventory.
Responsibilities
- Supervise a construction crew and schedule work for the team.
- Assist the crew with hard labor as needed.
- Communicate progress and needs to the Project Manager.
- Coordinate daily operations of the crew and delegate responsibilities.
- Maintain crew discipline and resolve conflicts.
- Develop and maintain a strong sense of teamwork among crew members.
- Act as a role model and demonstrate a positive work ethic.
- Ensure work projects are completed satisfactorily and safely.
- Maintain records on attendance and crew activities, and complete project reports.
- Maintain tool inventory and ensure regular cleaning, sharpening, and repair of tools.
Requirements
- Possess working knowledge of leadership management skills.
- Lead lower skilled employees in safe productive work procedures.
- Conduct AM and PM briefings.
- Maintain vehicles, equipment, and tools in good working order.
- Comply with reporting procedures.
- Significant construction knowledge is required.
- Manage supplies, materials, and equipment effectively.
- Read and interpret site plans, construction drawings, and scopes of work.
- Coordinate essential personnel on-site for the project.
