About the position

The Payload Systems Engineer at PeopleTec is responsible for providing technical expertise in the evaluation and integration of various payload subsystems into uncrewed aircraft systems. This role involves coordinating with external offices, resolving payload issues, and supporting the specification and qualification of integrated payload subsystems. The engineer will also prepare reports and briefings for senior management, ensuring effective communication with various stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical expertise in the evaluation and integration of payload subsystems into uncrewed aircraft systems.
  • Act as a Subject Matter Expert on the performance and capabilities of payload systems.
  • Coordinate technical and programmatic efforts with external offices executing Payload Programs of Record.
  • Evaluate and resolve payload issues with fielded systems.
  • Support the specification, qualification, and airworthiness determination of integrated payload subsystems.
  • Prepare and deliver reports and briefings to senior management regarding program status and findings.
  • Perform System Test & Qualification Engineering activities on UAS programs.
  • Assist in preparing contract requirement packages and acquisition strategies.
  • Develop and implement innovative solutions and methodologies to improve efficiency.
  • Contribute to the creation of integrated master schedules and technical documentation.
  • Interface with internal and external personnel regarding UAS products.
  • Assist in coordinating stakeholders' working groups for emerging UAS requirements.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a relevant functional area.
  • Product Level Management Experience under an ACAT I or II program preferred.
  • Experience in providing programmatic and/or systems engineering support to major DoD acquisition activities.
  • Thorough knowledge of Federal Acquisition Regulations and contract terminology.
  • Experience administering various contract types (Cost Plus Fixed Fee, Cost Plus Incentive Fee, Firm Fixed Price).
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in the development, testing, fielding/training, and sustainment phases of system's life cycle.
  • Demonstrated experience working individually and facilitating working groups.
