About the position

The Payroll Accountant position is a contract role based in Long Beach, CA, offering a hybrid work schedule. The primary focus of this role is to manage multi-state payroll for employees, ensuring compliance with various payroll regulations and tax requirements. Responsibilities

• Set up multi-state payroll for employees across various states.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations, including tax withholdings, unemployment, and wage & hour laws.
• Calculate and submit state-specific payroll tax returns and reconcile quarterly and annual payroll tax reports.
• Perform other payroll duties as assigned.

Requirements

• 4+ years of payroll experience
• Working knowledge of multi-state payroll practices
• Working knowledge of payroll tax at the federal, state, and local levels
• Paylocity experience preferred
