About the position

We are seeking a Payroll/Accounting Support Specialist to join our team in Plano, TX! This is a hybrid role where the employee will be expected to report to the Plano office 3 days a week. As a member of the finance team at Tapcheck, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that our financial records are accurate and up-to-date. You will work closely with our Accounting department and report directly to the Controller.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and process payroll to ensure accurate, timely processing of payroll in compliance with Company's policies and procedures and with federal, state, and local tax regulations.
  • Ensures accurate and timely processing of payroll updates including new hires, terminations, and changes to pay rates.
  • Perform audits prior to payroll transmission and resolve discrepancies found in reconciliations.
  • Prepare payroll related journal entries and reconciliations. Document and update the payroll procedures.
  • Ad hoc requests related to payroll reporting from accounting, Sales, HR, and other functional groups.
  • Manage daily reconciliations of large data sets and loss of transactions.
  • Experience working on Bank Reconciliations, A/P, A/R, Payroll and Month End Close.
  • Experience working within the general ledger and booking journal entries.
  • Experience reconciling employee expenses and corporate credit cards.
  • Support external financial audit.

Requirements

  • Ability to report to the Plano, TX office 3x a week.
  • 5+ years practical payroll work experience required.
  • Solid understanding of all federal/state wage and hour laws related to payroll including garnishments, benefits, leave of absence, 401k, FSA and taxes.
  • Working knowledge of payroll best practices.
  • Extensive knowledge of daily reconciliations and loss of transactions.
  • Ability to prioritize, multitask, and meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical & problem-solving skills to research and resolve inquiries and respond in a timely manner.
  • Strong people skills and the ability to discreetly handle confidential information.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills, both written & verbal.
  • Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook, Word, Excel (ability to perform pivots, V-lookups and other functions).

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Workday Payroll and HCM is highly preferred.
  • Experience with Ramp is a plus.
