Job type Full-time Benefits Pulled from the full job description 401(k) Full job description Job Summary: Mikhail Education Corporation is looking for a Payroll Accountant to join our team. This is a great opportunity for an individual that is a self-starter and likes to take initiative. The Payroll Accountant reports to the Chief Financial Officer, with a dotted line to the Corporate Human Resources Director. This position will mainly be responsible for accurately processing payroll for each pay period for several subsidiaries. You will perform daily, weekly, and monthly tasks that are vital to the organization. The human resources duties will be to assist with electronic filing of HR documents and other special projects and various tasks. Payroll responsibilities/duties: Accurately process payroll for each pay period for all locations within the payroll system Prepares journal entries for payroll for all locations within the accounting system Timely research issues regarding payroll, 401K accounts, employee deductions, and benefits for employees and propose recommendations and solutions. Follows up with the payroll provider as needed regarding payroll-related issues Assists with training of new staff on the payroll system Review, reconcile, and process invoices for health and employee benefits Follows up with benefit vendors as needed regarding billing discrepancies Reviews and troubleshoot incoming client tax notices and propose resolutions for a quick and accurate resolution Assists with the filing and scanning of confidential HR records Assists with the annual financial audit, 401K audits, and assist with annual form 5500 filings. Assists with end of year Activities including W-2 filings and tax reporting Assists with quarterly state payroll tax filings and state tax registrations across multiple states Assists with building and providing custom reports as needed within the payroll system Assists with changes and implementation of new services within the payroll system Human Resources responsibilities/duties: Scanning of all human resources personnel documents Assists with the onboarding documents when needed Provide organizational clerical support as needed for the HR department Other duties as assigned by the Chief Financial Officer and the Corporate Human Resources Director Requirements: Demonstrate working knowledge of primary payroll tax filings, including but not limited to: 940, 941, W-3, W-2, 1099, 1096, 5500, and Nevada Modified Business Tax Should have current working knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll tax and compliance laws, including experience with tax notice resolution, new client onboarding and all applicable payroll tax filings Must display an intermediate +level of Word, Excel, and Outlook skills, in addition to advanced technical aptitude Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) or Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) credential highly valued, but not required Experience: Minimum of 2 years payroll experience; preferably with Paychex Flex Education: Minimum of an Associates Degree in Accounting or Business Administration Physical Requirements: Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times Environment typical of a normal office setting NO PHONE CALLS PLEASE Send RESUME to [email protected] AN EQUAL OPPORTUNITY EMPLOYER.
