About the position

The Payroll Specialist / Accounting Clerk is responsible for processing payroll and maintaining related records, as well as supporting various activities within the Payroll and Accounting Department. This role involves preparing payroll information, managing accounts payable, and ensuring compliance with payroll regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and process payroll information by compiling, calculating, and inputting weekly payroll data through Excel spreadsheets and HRIS systems.
  • Enter data into HRIS systems and record changes affecting net wages such as exemptions, insurance coverage, and benefit deductions.
  • Track and record payroll records for both weekly and bi-weekly payrolls.
  • Assist Human Resources in compliance with payroll organization.
  • Check and approve all vouchers for payment in accounts payable.
  • Prepare invoice deduction notices as necessary and audit freight bills against freight manifests.
  • Answer vendor inquiries and maintain accounts payable files.
  • Prepare analysis of accounts as required and assist in weekly and monthly closings.
  • Support special projects as necessary.

Requirements

  • Minimum one-year experience in Payroll / Accounts Payable department.
  • Ability to process basic functions and formulas in Microsoft Excel.
  • Familiarity with payroll software (UltiPro) is a plus.
  • Knowledge of MS Office: Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint.
  • Strong multi-tasking, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Attention to detail and experience handling sensitive information.

Nice-to-haves

  • Associate's degree in accounting preferred.
