The Payroll Accounting Specialist at Protection Strategies Inc. plays a crucial role in monitoring, analyzing, and controlling all payroll processing activities. This includes ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, interfacing with external payroll providers, and generating payroll reports. The specialist will also be responsible for system configuration related to time and expense reporting data, processing final checks for terminated employees, and managing supplemental and off-cycle check processing. Additionally, the role involves overseeing leave accruals and executing various special projects as assigned. In this position, the Payroll Accounting Specialist will manage day-to-day timesheet activities, including collecting timesheets at the end of each pay period, checking for accuracy, and soliciting necessary corrections. Once the timesheets are finalized, the specialist will import them into Costpoint, calculate Health & Welfare allowances, and compute and post leave accruals. The role also requires importing timesheets into iSolved and processing payroll under the supervision of the Accounting Manager. Furthermore, the specialist will be responsible for collecting and filing all payroll reports and assisting with General Ledger imports post-payroll. The position also entails time administration, which includes setting up new employees in the time management system, maintaining workforce approval groups, and managing new employee imports in iSolved and Costpoint. The Payroll Accounting Specialist will track and process all invoices received, request approvals, and enter them into Accounts Payable, ensuring all payments are processed accurately and timely. The role requires a strong understanding of full-cycle accounting, particularly in Accounts Payable and Payroll, and the ability to work with multi-state payroll systems.
