About the position

The Payroll Accounting Specialist plays a crucial role in the Controller's Division, focusing on the Centralized Payroll Function and various financial processes. This position is responsible for maintaining payroll data controls, providing detailed payment information, and ensuring compliance with labor statistics reporting. The specialist will also handle payroll processing, vendor invoice audits, and training new payroll technicians, all while working under the supervision of a designated supervisor.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains account controls and reports relating to Payroll data.
  • Provides details concerning payments of various NEXCOM Central Office and worldwide expenses.
  • Reviews and monitors unemployment claims and reimbursement payments to the U.S. Department of Labor.
  • Generates labor employment statistics for the U.S. Department of Labor on a monthly and quarterly basis.
  • Calculates gross-up for associates who have relocated.
  • Provides payroll data for Workmen’s Compensation and Disability claims.
  • Supplies wage verification data to entities such as the Social Security Administration and IRS.
  • Maintains contact with associates at all levels, including management and outside companies.
  • Audits and processes monthly payments of payroll provider’s vendor invoices.
  • Processes biweekly payroll and transmits it to ADP in the absence of the Payroll Manager.
  • Supplies ADP produced tax debits and 401k file check requests to Accounting and Accounts Payable.
  • Trains new Payroll Technicians on applicable policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • 3 years of administrative, professional, technical, investigative, or other responsible work experience related to accounting practices and procedures.
  • 1 year of academic study above high school level with 6 semester hours of accounting courses may substitute for 9 months of experience, up to a maximum of a 4-year bachelor’s degree for 3 years of general experience.
  • 1 year of responsible experience requiring knowledge of established accounting procedures and payroll functions.
