About the position

The Payroll & Accounting Specialist is pivotal in ensuring seamless processing of in-house payroll for over 100 employees, adhering to pertinent personnel policies, collective bargaining agreements, and state/federal regulations. This role also ensures compliance with FLSA and DOL regulations. You will maintain precise employee records, handling tasks like new hire onboarding, tax forms, direct deposit changes, and benefits administration. Additionally, you will oversee weekly timecard reviews for field employees, ensuring accuracy and adherence to schedules. Conducting routine payroll audits and responding to payroll-related inquiries promptly will also be part of your responsibilities. You will generate payroll reports and other payroll documentation as needed by other departments, and organize and maintain payroll documents to facilitate efficient retrieval and filing. Moreover, you will assist in audits, verification of employment (VOE) requests, and unemployment claim responses. Staying updated on regulatory guidelines, prevailing wages, and other payroll-related updates is crucial. You will also support internal and external audit processes related to payroll and process cash deposits and accounts receivable within the accounting system.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Experience in payroll processing for 100+ employees, 2+ years preferred.
  • Experience using ADP Workforce Now required.
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field preferred.
  • Expertise in payroll tax deposits, quarterly and annual filings, and relevant forms (941, 940, W2, etc.).
  • Accounting knowledge required.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, capable of interfacing across all organizational levels.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in a high-volume environment.
  • Self-motivated and performance-driven, with exceptional organizational skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, adaptable environment.
  • Experience with MIP accounting system preferred.
  • Ability to pass national background check.
