About the position

The Payroll and Accounting Specialist plays a crucial role in managing the company's financial transactions, including payroll processing, accounts payable, and receivable. This position ensures that all financial records are accurate and compliant with regulations, while also providing support for month-end close activities and maintaining confidentiality of sensitive information.

Responsibilities

  • Receive, audit, and process payments, and receivables from company vendors, TPAs, and custodians
  • Maintain and organize receipt of payments, invoices, and receipts with company online file storage systems
  • Communicate with external partners, custodians, TPAs, and vendors to resolve any payment or invoice discrepancies and questions
  • Process payroll for company employees, ensuring that all compensation pay codes, taxes, and benefit deductions are correct and set up in a timely manner
  • Audit payroll and GL reports to ensure accuracy, adjusting where necessary, and maintaining documentation on changes, corrections, and updates
  • Processing expense reimbursements and reconciliation of expenses
  • Assist with other month end close activities as assigned
  • Remain knowledgeable in the policies and regulations of the regulatory bodies to ensure compliance with all work activities
  • Work with all other team members in a way that is conducive with the mission, values, and beliefs of the company to provide customer service beyond expectations
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of all sensitive information
  • Comply with company-wide policies and SEC/FINRA regulations

Requirements

  • Experience in payroll processing and accounting functions
  • Strong knowledge of accounts payable and receivable processes
  • Proficiency in using accounting software and online file storage systems
  • Excellent communication skills for interacting with external partners and vendors
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and comply with regulatory requirements

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with SEC/FINRA regulations
  • Familiarity with payroll tax regulations
  • Knowledge of expense reimbursement processes
