About the position

The Payroll / Accounts Payable Specialist at LMH Health is responsible for providing clerical support for payroll processing, accounts payable, and general ledger activities. This role requires sound judgment and discretion in data analysis, journal entry preparation, and account reconciliation, while ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations. The position emphasizes effective communication, time management, and the ability to work independently in a collaborative environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provides support and backup for processing bi-weekly payroll and subsequent manual payroll check settlements.
  • Processes pay authorization and pay change documents.
  • Assists in the preparation of quarterly and annual compliance reports for federal and state agencies including Form W-2.
  • Scans and enters invoice data into the accounts payable system.
  • Reviews pay documents for proper authorization and general ledger account distribution.
  • Provides support on issues related to check distribution and processing stop payments, voids, and cancelled checks.
  • Performs weekly check run audit and check matching function.
  • Assists with annual accounts payable 1099 review and filing process.
  • Accumulates documents as requested to facilitate preparation of fixed asset journal entry schedules and provides data entry support for Accountants & Financial Analysts to maintain the fixed asset ledgers.
  • Cross-trains with and assists others in accounting/finance departments.
  • Assists department managers and other staff with accounting related issues.
  • Interacts and responds professionally to complaints and inquiries from coworkers, management, and customers.
  • Displays effective time management, organizational, and communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Works independently to analyze problems, compile data, determine facts, and reach logical conclusions.
  • Comprehends and enforces policies and procedures.
  • Maintains attention to detail, accuracy with numbers, and efficiency in completing multiple tasks.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in business related field or two years of experience in payroll accounting.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Effective time management and organizational skills.
