About the position

The Payroll, Accounts Payable Specialist is responsible for processing payroll, managing accounts payable, and supporting HRIS administration for multiple clients. This role requires intermediate skills in payroll processing, benefits administration, and invoice management, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations. The specialist will work closely with clients and internal teams to resolve issues and streamline processes, while maintaining confidentiality and data integrity.

Responsibilities

  • Process and support payroll activities for multiple clients, including time tracking and benefit changes.
  • Prepare, document, reconcile, and transmit payrolls accurately, ensuring compliance with multi-state laws.
  • Calculate and process employee wages, garnishments, and deductions while maintaining confidentiality.
  • Run payroll reports to audit and analyze pay computations and deductions for accuracy.
  • Assist with employee onboarding and benefits administration, including COBRA administration and HRIS terminations.
  • Communicate with clients regarding missing or inaccurate payroll information.
  • Set up deduction codes and withholding taxes for payroll and HRIS administration.
  • Create and run reports as requested by clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Process invoices, issue checks, and generate accounts payable reports for multiple clients.
  • Maintain documentation of standard processes and participate in continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 4 years of payroll processing/HRIS experience preferred.
  • 3 years of Accounts Payable or general Accounting experience preferred.
  • Experience using ADP Workforce Now or similar payroll processing systems preferred.
  • Knowledge of accounting and accounts payable processing techniques.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Financial Edge and/or QuickBooks.
  • HRIS system administration knowledge/experience preferred.
