About the position

The Payroll Assistant at LaTour Hotels and Resorts, Inc. is an entry-level position responsible for assisting with payroll processing and risk management functions. This role involves multi-state payroll processing, evaluating timecards, maintaining documentation for payroll changes, and ensuring compliance with internal policies and governmental regulations. The Payroll Assistant will also support risk management efforts by gathering information and assisting with workers' compensation documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with multi-state payroll processing on a weekly/bi-weekly schedule.
  • Evaluate timecards for accuracy.
  • Maintain documentation flow for payroll changes and communicate with internal departments.
  • Audit information from outside vendors.
  • Act as the primary point person for employee verification.
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies and governmental regulations for transactions.
  • Assist with unemployment claims reporting.
  • Reconcile PTO balances and payroll billing.
  • Address employee inquiries regarding self-service and payroll-related questions.
  • Assist Risk Management with information gathering from insurance brokers and property locations.
  • Organize information as needed for risk management tasks.
  • Data entry of invoicing for proper billing and payment.
  • Report any workers' compensation incidents and documentation.

Requirements

  • Two to four-year degree in accounting or a business-related field.
  • One year of proven experience in a multi-state payroll environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Experience with online HRIS and Payroll platforms.
  • Knowledge of bookkeeping procedures.
  • Ability to handle confidential information and sensitive issues.

Nice-to-haves

  • Some understanding of insurance and risk management.
  • Experience in payroll processing and accounting fundamentals.
