About the position

The Payroll Administrator is responsible for the preparation and processing of bi-weekly payroll using Workday Payroll and UKG Pro Timekeeping. This role involves a variety of payroll processing activities, including verifying wage calculations, reviewing deductions, and addressing employee inquiries regarding payroll policies. The position supports the mission of Shirley Ryan AbilityLab by demonstrating core values such as communication, accountability, and customer service while ensuring accurate payroll operations.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and process bi-weekly payroll using Workday Payroll and UKG Pro Timekeeping.
  • Review timecards and process payroll actions including retroactive payments and garnishments.
  • Prepare, balance, and correct payroll reports.
  • Audit and enter manual payments and run payroll validation reports.
  • Process payroll-related filings and reporting such as Workers Compensation and tax filings.
  • Update and maintain the UKG Pro Timekeeping system.
  • Provide training to employees and managers on time and attendance processes.
  • Assist with auditing payroll areas such as timekeeping records.
  • Research and resolve payroll-related questions from employees and management.
  • Maintain accurate payroll records and employee files.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Knowledge of Workday Payroll or UKG Pro systems is preferred.
  • Intermediate working knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
  • Familiarity with Federal, State, & FICA payroll laws and procedures.
  • Analytical ability to resolve payroll problems and correct errors.
  • Interpersonal skills to handle employee complaints and explain payroll policies.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in payroll processing for three to five years.
  • Ability to identify and implement continuous quality improvement opportunities.
