About the position

The Payroll Administrator will play a crucial role in ensuring the accurate and timely processing of employee payroll for a Seattle-based biotechnology company. This position is ideal for an early-career professional who is detail-oriented and eager to learn new systems. The role involves various payroll-related tasks, compliance with regulations, and collaboration with HR and finance teams to enhance operational efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation and administration of payroll for all employees, ensuring timely and accurate disbursement of wages.
  • Input and maintain employee information in the HRIS system, including government forms, employee addresses, direct deposit information, and earning or deduction adjustments.
  • Collect, verify, and process timesheets, time off, and leave requests to ensure accurate payroll calculations.
  • Support the administration of employee benefits, including enrollments, changes, and terminations in regard to payroll.
  • Help ensure compliance with federal and state payroll regulations, company policies, and labor laws by maintaining registrations in all jurisdictions and researching tax discrepancies.
  • Generate and review payroll reports, assist with audits, and provide necessary documentation to internal stakeholders and external auditors.
  • Address payroll inquiries from employees and resolve pay discrepancies in a professional manner.
  • Collaborate with HR and finance teams to streamline payroll processes and enhance operational efficiency.
  • Document payroll processes effectively and make updates to documentation as needed.

Requirements

  • High school diploma required; Associates/Bachelors in accounting, finance, or related field is a plus.
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office, with a willingness to learn new computer systems.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.
  • Ability to manage time effectively, meet tight deadlines, and stay organized.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with employees and team members.
  • Positive and proactive attitude, with a strong desire to learn and grow within a startup environment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Customer service, banking, accounting, accounts payable or other financial services experience is a plus.
