About the position

We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Payroll Analyst to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring accurate payroll processing and compliance with tax regulations. This position requires a strong understanding of payroll systems, accounting principles, and the ability to analyze data effectively. The Payroll Analyst will work closely with HR and finance departments to maintain payroll records, perform journal entries, and support various payroll-related functions.

Responsibilities

• Process payroll for employees in the organization
• Acquire all necessary signatures to distribute payroll
• Process wage garnishments
• Make adjustments in pay for raises, bonuses, and commissions
• Work with company database programs to process payroll
• Process paper checks for distribution
• Analyze and report on compensation-related data including wages and bonuses
• Prepare routine and ad hoc reports for relevant departments about payroll, company budget, and expense
• Conduct regular audits on payroll procedures and records
• Process benefit invoices
• Design, document, and implement procedures to streamline payroll processes
• Manage payment calendars for the fiscal year
• Report to management on payroll issues and changes
• Answer employees' questions about salaries and tax
• Stay up to date on state and federal payroll and tax laws
• Audit and approve monthly, quarterly, and annual tax returns and reporting, including W2s.

Requirements

• Proven experience in a payroll position in a fast-paced environment required
• Deep knowledge of state and federal payroll tax and wage laws
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong computer literacy including Microsoft Office applications
• Exceptional multitasking and organizational skills
• Able to work effectively with minimal supervision
• Excellent attention to detail
• Exceptional analytical, mathematical and calculation skills
• Able to work under tight deadlines
• Physically able to work seated in front of a computer for long hours at a time
