About the position

The Payroll and Accounting Specialist at The Ebell of Los Angeles is responsible for managing payroll processing and accounting tasks within a women's non-profit organization. This role supports the organization's mission to empower women and serves the Greater Los Angeles community. The specialist will coordinate payroll operations, maintain payroll data, and assist with accounts payable, ensuring accurate financial reporting and compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate Paychex payroll processing from initial input to paycheck distribution.
  • Maintain required payroll data files and monitor time and attendance system for employees.
  • Review timecards daily/weekly and verify daily timeclock punches.
  • Confirm daily breaks and resolve time clock discrepancies.
  • Process biweekly payroll and distribute paychecks.
  • Act as the primary liaison for new hires and employees regarding payroll issues.
  • Interact with Paychex Representatives to resolve technical and personnel issues.
  • Process garnishments and assist with EDD audits as they arise.
  • Handle accounts payable tasks including invoice input and tracking.
  • Assist in preparation of accounting reports and maintain accounts payable filing.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3-4 years of payroll processing experience.
  • Experience with Paychex is a must.
  • Ability to manage confidential information carefully.
  • High School Diploma is required.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
