About the position

The City of Caldwell is seeking a full-time Payroll and Accounting Specialist responsible for processing payroll, managing benefit vendor checks, and performing various accounting and administrative tasks within the finance department. This role involves preparing payroll reports, handling local improvement district billing, and ensuring compliance with government payroll practices.

Responsibilities

  • Process and distribute payroll and benefit vendor checks.
  • Prepare and enter payroll-related documents into the computer.
  • Process biweekly payroll and prepare all payroll-related reports.
  • Review and assist with local improvement district (LID) billing, payments, penalties, notices, and filings.
  • Perform accounting, clerical, and administrative support duties to the finance department.
  • Perform related work as required.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with an associate's degree in accounting or a closely related field.
  • Considerable experience in government payroll and accounting practices.
  • Any equivalent combination of experience, education, and training which provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the work.
