About the position

The City of Caldwell is seeking a full-time Payroll and Accounting Specialist responsible for processing payroll, managing benefit vendor checks, and providing accounting support to the finance department. This role involves preparing payroll-related documents, processing biweekly payroll, and assisting with local improvement district billing and payments.

Responsibilities

  • Process and distribute payroll and benefit vendor checks.
  • Prepare and enter payroll-related documents into the computer.
  • Process biweekly payroll and prepare all payroll-related reports.
  • Review and assist with local improvement district (LID) billing, payments, penalties, notices, and filings.
  • Perform accounting, clerical, and administrative support duties to the finance department.
  • Perform related work as required.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with an associate's degree in accounting or a closely related field.
  • Considerable experience in government payroll and accounting practices.
  • Any equivalent combination of experience, education, and training which provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the work.
