About the position

The Payroll and Benefits Coordinator at Notre Dame High School is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing, maintaining employee records, coordinating benefits with payroll, and overseeing compliance with state and federal regulations. This part-time position requires a dedicated individual to manage payroll and benefits effectively while adhering to the standards set by the Diocese.

Responsibilities

  • Process and maintain all employee and substitute records, including background checks and tax withholding forms.
  • Ensure compliance with the Diocese's standards as the Safe Environment Coordinator.
  • Monitor completion and maintenance of I-9 forms and Criminal History Clearances.
  • Collect, calculate, and enter payroll data for hourly and substitute employees.
  • Review payroll registers for accuracy and completeness, making necessary corrections.
  • Enter and update employee personal, benefits, and employment data into Paylocity.
  • Audit attendance records against timeclock data for consistency.
  • Cross-reference benefit payments with deductions to ensure accuracy.
  • Maintain confidentiality of payroll operations and employee information.
  • Convert Diocesan payroll account codes into Notre Dame payroll account codes for bank reconciliation reports.
  • Reconcile bank accounts and assist with special projects as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or a related field.
  • Minimum three years' experience in payroll processing, preferably in an educational or non-profit setting.
  • Proficient in payroll software and HRIS systems, with experience in Paylocity preferred.
  • In-depth knowledge of payroll regulations and tax laws.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with a customer-service oriented mindset.
  • Strong ethical standards and discretion in handling sensitive information.
  • Demonstrated flexibility to cope with challenges in a rapidly changing environment.
