About the position

The Payroll and Benefits Manager is a pivotal role within the human resources team, tasked with overseeing and managing all facets of payroll, HRIS, and benefits administration for the organization. This position demands a highly skilled and experienced professional capable of ensuring the accuracy, efficiency, and compliance of payroll and benefits processes. The Payroll and Benefits Manager will also contribute to the development and implementation of strategic initiatives related to employee compensation and benefits. The role is primarily focused on the US market, while also holding responsibility for the governance of the HR system on a global scale. Reporting directly to the Director of Human Resources, this position plays a crucial role in aligning payroll and benefits practices with the organization's overall goals and objectives. In terms of payroll management, the Payroll and Benefits Manager will oversee the end-to-end payroll processing using ADP WFN Managed Services, ensuring that all processes are accurate, compliant, and timely. Collaboration with the finance team is essential to reconcile payroll-related accounts and resolve any discrepancies that may arise. Staying informed about changes in payroll regulations is critical to maintaining compliance with the organization's payroll practices. The benefits administration aspect of the role involves managing the design, implementation, and administration of employee benefits programs. The Payroll and Benefits Manager will work closely with the HR team to communicate and educate employees about the benefits offerings, ensuring that they have a comprehensive understanding of the available options. This includes negotiating contracts with benefits providers, managing benefit funding and invoices, and optimizing program offerings. Conducting periodic audits to ensure data accuracy between the HRIS, payroll deductions, and benefit vendors is also a key responsibility. Additionally, the Payroll and Benefits Manager will support and maintain the company's HR system (ADP WorkforceNow) and related applications, ensuring the integrity of global HRIS data between ADP WFN and ADP Celergo. Collaboration with HR partners, various departments, and outside vendors is necessary to develop efficient and effective processes and workflows. Compliance with local, state, and federal regulations governing payroll and benefits for both the US and Canada is paramount, and the manager will generate regular reports and analyses related to payroll and benefits data for internal and external stakeholders. Periodic global audits will also be conducted to ensure data accuracy and compliance. Strategic planning is another critical component of this role, as the Payroll and Benefits Manager will provide recommendations for improvements and enhancements to existing payroll and benefits programs. Collaborating with senior leadership to align compensation and benefits practices with organizational goals is essential for the success of this position.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field; Master's degree or relevant professional certification (i.e. CPP, CBP) is a plus.
  • Proven experience of 5-10 years in payroll and benefits administration, with a strong understanding of relevant laws and regulations.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in payroll and HRIS software; Experience with ADP WorkforceNow.
