About the position

The Payroll and Benefits Specialist plays a crucial role in the People+Culture department by managing payroll, benefits administration, and fostering a positive workplace culture. This position requires a commitment to confidentiality, ethics, and integrity while ensuring associates are paid accurately and timely. The specialist will also assist in onboarding new associates and promote initiatives that enhance employee engagement and satisfaction.

Responsibilities

  • Administer payroll functions ensuring timely and accurate payments to associates.
  • Execute accurate employer deductions during payroll processing and document all wage-related transactions.
  • Produce payroll reports for management and oversee state tax filings and W-2s.
  • Assist the Director of Compliance with PEAK reporting to government agencies.
  • Administer associate benefits accurately through the payroll system and assist new associates with benefits selection during onboarding.
  • Balance payroll records using Excel and reconcile incoming invoices, updating benefit carriers as necessary during terminations and leaves.
  • Promote a positive workplace culture that reflects the organization's values and mission.
  • Partner with the P+C team to drive associate engagement initiatives and implement programs that foster well-being and work-life balance.
  • Support efforts to measure and improve associate satisfaction, engagement, and retention.
  • Collaborate with the Culture Champions Program to assist with onboarding and event planning.

Requirements

  • Degree from an accredited university in human resources, organizational development, business administration, or a related field.
  • Two years of payroll and benefit administration experience.
  • Human resources certification such as PHR, SHRM-CP, or CEBS is a plus.
  • Payroll certification such as FPC or CPP is a plus.
  • Excellent reasoning, mathematics, and data entry skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Proficient with Adobe.
