About the position

The Payroll and Benefits Specialist at Rocky's Ace Hardware is responsible for compiling, recording, and analyzing employee time, payroll, and benefits data. This role is crucial in ensuring that all processes and procedures comply with state and federal payroll and benefits regulations. The specialist will work closely with various store managers to ensure the accuracy and completeness of employee timesheets and will be responsible for auditing new hire paperwork to maintain compliance with legal requirements. Additionally, the specialist will monitor benefits elections and ensure that all payroll data, including garnishments, paid time off, insurance, and 401(k) deductions, are accurately processed. This position requires a keen attention to detail and a strong understanding of payroll systems and regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Compile payroll data such as garnishments, paid time off, insurance, and 401(k) deductions.
  • Review employee timesheets for completeness and accuracy.
  • Contact various store managers for any missed time on timesheets.
  • Ensure integrity of new hire information.
  • Audit new hire paperwork to ensure compliance.
  • Ensure company form I-9 is audited and complete from stores and support center.
  • Comply with state and federal laws regarding final pay and unemployment information.
  • Input, edit, audit, and monitor benefits elections.
  • Monitor PPACA compliance.
  • Compile internal management reports from payroll system software.
  • Perform other responsibilities as assigned by the Manager of Comp and Benefits.

Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of payroll and benefits regulations.
  • Experience with payroll systems and software.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in data entry.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with store managers and employees.
  • Strong analytical skills to compile and analyze payroll data.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a retail environment.
  • Familiarity with PPACA regulations.
  • Certification in payroll or benefits administration.
