About the position

The Payroll and Benefits Specialist at AnalytiChem will serve as the primary contact for US payroll and benefits inquiries, ensuring the smooth operation of payroll processes for approximately 100 employees across three group companies. This role involves managing payroll, benefits administration, and compliance with relevant laws, while also supporting global HR initiatives. The position is based in Bedford, NH, and offers a dynamic work environment in a rapidly growing organization.

Responsibilities

  • Answer payroll and benefits inquiries from managers and employees.
  • Enter, maintain, and process employee information in payroll systems.
  • Determine benefits eligibility and process enrollments, changes, and terminations.
  • Maintain employee benefits filing systems and ensure accurate payroll deductions.
  • Process biweekly payroll according to the company's pay schedule.
  • Issue replacement checks or direct deposits as needed.
  • Review and respond to unemployment claims and statements.
  • Administer various employee benefits programs including COBRA and 401(k).
  • Manage annual 401(k) catch-up contribution enrollment and testing.
  • Process and administer leave-of-absence requests and disability paperwork.
  • Support the annual benefits renewal process with demographic data.
  • Coordinate the annual open enrollment process and conduct new hire orientations.
  • Ensure compliance with payroll and benefits laws and conduct internal audits.
  • Facilitate external audits by providing necessary documentation.
  • Work with the HR team to provide reporting and personnel statistics.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's degree in accounting, human resources, or business administration preferred.
  • 3-5 years of hands-on experience in multi-state payroll and benefits administration.
  • Professional certification (i.e., PHR, SHRM-CP, CEBS, or CPP) strongly preferred.
  • Fluent in English (spoken and written); French is a plus.
  • Strong communication skills to explain complex benefit and payroll information.
  • Confident with daily use of MS Office tools, especially advanced Excel (V-Lookup).
  • Experience with multiple automated payroll and HRIS platforms preferred.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Canadian (Quebec) payroll and benefits is a plus.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a team player mentality.
