About the position

We are a growing accounting firm dedicated to providing top-notch financial services to our clients. Our firm prides itself on personalized service and a collaborative work environment. We are seeking a detail-oriented Payroll and Bookkeeping Specialist to join our team. This role will be responsible for a variety of administrative and financial tasks to support the firm's operations. The ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills, show attention to detail and accuracy, and can manage multiple tasks simultaneously. In this position, you will prepare and process payroll for clients accurately and timely, maintain accurate records of payroll documentation and transactions, and handle payroll inquiries from clients and their employees. You will also enter and process bank transactions into accounting software, assist with the preparation of financial reports, and prepare monthly account reconciliations and sales tax reports. Additionally, you will be responsible for preparing quarterly and annual payroll tax reports, including Forms W2, W3, and 1099. Completing assignments within deadlines and working collaboratively with staff to meet client needs are essential aspects of this role. You will ensure that all assignments meet the firm's service, quality, and confidentiality standards while providing an excellent client experience.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Associate or bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Experience with accounting software preferred
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Prior experience in payroll processing and accounting preferred
  • Knowledge of double-entry bookkeeping and general ledger accounting principles preferred
