About the position

We are seeking a dedicated Payroll and HRIS Administrator to manage our payroll processes and oversee the Human Resources Information System (HRIS). This part-time remote position is ideal for a detail-oriented professional with extensive experience in multi-state payroll and tax regulations. You will ensure compliance and accuracy across all operations while working closely with our HR and Finance teams to streamline payroll operations and optimize the use of HRIS to support business needs. As the Payroll Lead, you will be responsible for processing and overseeing payroll for all employees, ensuring accuracy and compliance with federal, state, and local regulations across multiple states. You will handle complex payroll matters, including multi-state tax filings, deductions, garnishments, and benefit contributions. Additionally, you will reconcile payroll accounts and address discrepancies promptly, ensuring all payroll records are accurately maintained for audit and reporting purposes. In your role overseeing the HRIS, you will manage and maintain the system, ensuring data integrity and alignment with payroll processes. You will collaborate with HR to troubleshoot and resolve HRIS issues, provide training and support to HR staff and managers, and generate and analyze HRIS reports to inform HR and business decisions. Staying updated on payroll laws and tax regulations across multiple states is crucial, as you will prepare and submit required payroll reports to government agencies and assist with internal and external audits related to payroll and HRIS. You will also identify opportunities to enhance payroll and HRIS processes for improved efficiency and accuracy, particularly in managing multi-state payroll operations. Leading and mentoring payroll team members, you will offer guidance on multi-state payroll complexities and HRIS functionalities while collaborating with HR, Finance, and IT departments to ensure seamless integration of payroll and HRIS processes. Customer service is key, as you will address and resolve employee inquiries related to payroll, focusing on multi-state payroll issues and providing timely and accurate responses to payroll-related questions from employees and management.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in payroll processing, with a strong focus on multi-state payroll and tax regulations.
  • In-depth knowledge of multi-state payroll laws, regulations, and best practices.
  • Proficiency in payroll software and HRIS systems (e.g., ADP, Workday, SAP).
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
