About the position

The Payroll and HRIS Specialist plays a crucial role within the Human Resource Operational Team, ensuring that payroll is processed accurately and in accordance with established schedules and quality assurance standards. This position serves as the primary point of contact for all payroll-related inquiries, providing assistance and troubleshooting for technical and system-related issues. The specialist will assist employees with time entry questions and corrections, ensuring that all payroll processes run smoothly and efficiently. In addition to payroll processing, the specialist is responsible for generating and providing payroll and HRIS reports to management as directed by the Chief Human Resource Officer (CHRO). This role also involves identifying areas for improvement in payroll processing, including enhancing user experience, ensuring compliance, correcting errors, and implementing system upgrades. The specialist must ensure timely record-keeping and compliance with various recurrent filings, such as EEO, MWR, ACA, and benefit notices, as well as maintaining HRIS data integrity by identifying and resolving inconsistencies and inaccuracies. The Payroll and HRIS Specialist will support HR with data entry processes throughout the employee lifecycle, from recruitment to termination. They will champion payroll and HRIS data-related projects assigned by the CHRO and ensure that all business continuity procedures and policies for payroll and HRIS data entry and reporting are well-documented, communicated, and regularly updated. Staying current with payroll and HR-related laws, compliance, and best practices is essential for this role, as is maintaining confidentiality and building trust with business partners.

Responsibilities

  • Process payroll in accordance with payroll schedule and quality assurance standards.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for payroll processing, providing assistance and troubleshooting.
  • Assist employees with time entry questions and corrections.
  • Provide payroll and HRIS reporting to management as directed by the CHRO.
  • Identify and recommend solutions for payroll processing improvements.
  • Ensure timely record keeping and compliance with recurrent filings such as EEO, MWR, ACA, and benefit notices.
  • Maintain HRIS data integrity by identifying and resolving inconsistencies and inaccuracies.
  • Support HR with HRIS data entry processes throughout the employee lifecycle.
  • Champion payroll and HRIS data-related projects assigned by the CHRO.
  • Ensure business continuity and update procedures and policies for payroll and HRIS data entry and reporting.

Requirements

  • 3 plus years' experience processing payroll for a small to mid-size organization.
  • 3 plus years' experience working with HRIS systems.
  • Bachelor's degree in data analytics, business, human resources, or accounting.
  • HR related certification preferred.
