About the position

The position is responsible for managing the payroll function within the Finance department of the agency, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and facilitating the agency's mission to serve local communities. The role involves compiling payroll data, processing payroll accurately and timely, and collaborating with various departments to resolve payroll-related issues.

Responsibilities

  • Verify, prepare, and input payroll data accurately and efficiently.
  • Maintain updated general ledger for all payroll entries, including accruals.
  • Prepare and distribute payroll reports as needed.
  • In charge of AP processing for the agency.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable state and federal wage laws.
  • Oversee 401K/profit sharing deductions and ensure accurate uploads to 401K vendor.
  • Participate in grant related activities as necessary.
  • Act as backup for A/R processing.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's degree preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in automated payroll processes required.
  • Experience with account payable processing required.
  • Experience with accounts receivable processing strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of state and federal tax laws preferred.
  • Strong organizational, critical thinking and time-management skills.
  • Basic computer skills required; knowledge of Microsoft Office 365.
  • Ability to communicate and effectively interact with a diverse population.
  • Collaboration and teamwork.
  • Ability to meet all background checks and medical clearances required for the position.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with accounts receivable processing strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of state and federal tax laws preferred.
