About the position

The Payroll Associate II plays a crucial role in the preparation and processing of semi-monthly payrolls for Volunteers of America. This position involves managing timekeeping systems, compiling payroll information, maintaining records, and addressing employee inquiries related to pay and timekeeping. The role is essential for ensuring accurate payroll processing and compliance with relevant regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Administers electronic timekeeping program (NOVA Time, WFM or follow-on program), validating employee working hour entries.
  • Trains employees and supervisors on the use of automated timekeeping processes, validating entries for each payroll.
  • Verifies missing punches, pending timesheet approvals, and pending PTO with supervisors during payroll process.
  • Verifies OT and DT hours to ensure punches are inserted correctly during payroll process.
  • Prepares migration of work hours to HRIS system (UltiPro) to generate payroll.
  • Assists in semi-monthly payroll processing from HRIS system (UltiPro) and answers any pay/PTO related questions.
  • Inputs W4s and Direct Deposits.
  • Hand delivers paychecks as directed.
  • Assists in the preparation of required payroll and tax-related reports and records.
  • Performs other tasks as directed by the Director of Strategic Finance.

Requirements

  • Must be able to pass a fingerprint clearance and background check, including criminal history, personal references, employment and education verifications.
  • Associate's Degree in Accounting or related field; or equivalent work experience in a payroll department (2 years).
  • Minimum two years of experience in payroll, bookkeeping, finance or accounting; or Bachelor's degree in related field and 1 year of experience in payroll, bookkeeping, finance or accounting.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Business preferred.
  • Previous experience using UltiPro HRIS software and time and attendance software is preferred.
  • Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Familiarity with Great Plains accounting software.
