About the position

The Payroll & Benefit Specialist at Russell A. Farrow Limited is responsible for managing payroll processes and benefits administration for employees. This role ensures accurate payroll processing, compliance with regulations, and effective communication of benefits information to employees. The specialist will also support HR functions, including recruitment and employee onboarding, while maintaining a focus on accuracy and efficiency in payroll and benefits management.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure employees are set up within Dayforce correctly and that any requested changes are verified and entered properly.
  • Ensure that entitlements have been updated and are effective for new hires.
  • Ensure that benefit elections are flowing through to payroll properly.
  • Enter and update any garnishments/support payments and ensure that they are flowing through to payroll.
  • For terminated employees, ensure final payments are calculated and monies owed are entered into payroll.
  • Review and validate timesheets on a biweekly basis; follow up with management regarding discrepancies and issues.
  • Enter payroll adjustments, such as service awards and expense reimbursements.
  • Review, validate and commit payroll; generate and file post-commit payroll reports.
  • Prepare and validate year-end forms (W2 & 1095C).
  • Provide day-to-day benefit administration support by communicating plan information to employees and ensuring enrollment in benefits.
  • Act as the main point of contact for benefit questions and service escalations.
  • Provide day-to-day medical leave administration support, ensuring correct leave types are presented and filing leave documents as needed.
  • Participate in the annual benefit plan review process and prepare for open enrollment by configuring and testing options in Dayforce.
  • Review, validate and submit 401K biweekly remittances and participate in the annual plan audit.

Requirements

  • 5-8 years of experience in Benefits/Payroll/HR Generalist roles.
  • Experience with Ceridian Dayforce HCM is an asset.
  • Post Secondary Education in Human Resources, Payroll, Accounting, or a related field.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in cross-border customs brokerage or logistics services.
  • Knowledge of ACA Year-End Reporting.
