About the position

The Payroll & Benefits Administrator is a critical role responsible for managing payroll and benefits for both union and non-union employees. This position ensures seamless and compliant processes while collaborating with internal teams and serving as a liaison with vendors. The ideal candidate is meticulous, data-driven, and thrives in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Process weekly and bi-weekly payroll for union and non-union employees.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure timely and accurate payroll approval and processing.
  • Maintain compliance with federal and state wage regulations, handling employment verifications, unemployment claims, and garnishments.
  • Oversee certified payroll requirements and prepare meticulous employee records for accuracy, compliance, and confidentiality.
  • Manage, track, and audit PTO, benefits enrollments, and employee payroll changes, including health, dental, vision, and 401(k) plans.
  • Support new hire onboarding, offboarding, and I-9 compliance, and assist with Leave of Absence processes.
  • Coordinate annual compliance reporting and internal education on payroll and benefits updates.
  • Serve as a liaison with vendors, ensuring accountability and managing contracts effectively.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business/HR or equivalent experience; CPP or SHRM PHR certification preferred.
  • 3+ years of payroll experience and benefits administration, ideally within a construction or service organization.
  • In-depth knowledge of payroll software/HRIS, payroll tax, ERISA-regulated health plans, and federal/state compliance.
  • Advanced MS Office skills (Excel, Word, Outlook), experience in SharePoint/Teams, and excellent written and verbal communication.
  • High levels of integrity, confidentiality, and diplomacy, coupled with strong time management and decision-making skills.
