About the position

The Payroll/Benefits Coordinator at Prism Biotech is responsible for processing payroll on a bi-weekly basis and managing the associated benefits. This role ensures the accuracy and efficiency of payroll operations, maintains confidentiality, and collaborates with the Human Resources Department to uphold payroll records. The coordinator will also handle payroll tax deposits, reconcile accounts, and provide support to employees regarding payroll inquiries.

Responsibilities

  • Process payroll on a bi-weekly basis, including required payroll reports and filing of benefits.
  • Maintain an orderly payroll office to ensure efficiency and accuracy.
  • Process all required taxing authority documents and make timely payments.
  • Maintain confidentiality of payroll, personnel, and finance information.
  • Work with the Human Resources Department to ensure accuracy of payroll records.
  • Calculate, prepare, and process employee time sheets for payroll.
  • Maintain current and complete individual employee records in accordance with Federal Labor Laws.
  • Prepare and file payroll tax deposits and related reports accurately and timely.
  • Reconcile payroll payable accounts regularly and initiate journal entries as needed.
  • Ensure integrity of the Payroll accounting module and report discrepancies to the CFO.
  • Assist finance staff with posting, filing, and other fiscal activities.
  • Reconcile and process monthly statements for health insurance, life insurance, and retirement benefits.
  • Review and reconcile Annual Leave and Sick Leave balances every payroll.
  • Review and reconcile Blue Cross statements monthly.
  • Ensure COBRA payments are made by prior employees.
  • Process 401K Year-End Census reports.
  • Prepare payroll calendar for Tribal Council approval.
  • Prepare annual W-2 and W-3 documents and electronic submissions.
  • Provide front line support to employees with payroll-related questions.
  • Stay current on payroll tax notifications and changes.

Requirements

  • AA Degree in Accounting/Business Field or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of two years' experience with payroll processing.
  • One year experience with spreadsheets and automated payroll systems is desirable.
  • Good understanding of payroll tax report preparation and filing.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with accounting software specific to the Tribes' accounting package.
  • Ability to acquire new skills in payroll management and accounting.
