About the position

The Payroll & Benefits Coordinator plays a crucial role in the Human Resources department at Labette Community College, reporting directly to the Director of HR & Organizational Development. This position is integral to the smooth operation of payroll and benefits management within the college. The primary responsibilities include producing the monthly payroll, ensuring compliance with all reporting requirements, and performing necessary reconciliations. Additionally, the coordinator will manage the College's benefit plans, which encompass Family Medical Leave and Worker's Compensation, ensuring that all processes are handled efficiently and in accordance with applicable laws and regulations. In this role, the Payroll & Benefits Coordinator will work closely with the Business office to facilitate accurate payroll processing and benefits administration. This includes maintaining up-to-date records, addressing employee inquiries regarding payroll and benefits, and collaborating with various departments to ensure that all payroll-related tasks are completed timely and accurately. The coordinator will also be responsible for staying informed about changes in state and federal payroll laws to ensure compliance and best practices are followed. The position offers a flexible work schedule, primarily structured as a 4-day work week from Monday to Thursday, allowing for a better work-life balance. Responsibilities

  • Produce the monthly payroll for the college.
  • Complete all reporting requirements and reconciliations related to payroll.
  • Manage the College's benefit plan, including Family Medical Leave and Worker's Compensation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Experience in human resource functions.
  • Knowledge of state and federal payroll laws.
  • Accounting or payroll background.
  • Experience using Excel software.
  • Ability to efficiently organize and manage multiple tasks.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Business or Accounting.
  • Three years of payroll experience.
