About the position

The Payroll & Benefits Manager at Banyan Treatment Centers is responsible for overseeing all payroll-related operations, ensuring compliance, accuracy, and efficiency in payroll and benefits administration. This role requires a hands-on expert who can manage complex payroll issues, lead system transitions, and support HR and finance functions. The position is integral to maintaining payroll compliance standards and enhancing the overall payroll process within the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Manage end-to-end payroll processing for a bi-weekly cycle across multiple states, ensuring compliance with tax laws.
  • Perform daily payroll operations including tax calculations, payroll interfaces, and cost allocations.
  • Ensure accurate and timely payroll adjustments, deductions, and garnishments.
  • Manage compliance with payroll regulations, including minimum wage and FLSA changes.
  • Lead cleanup and optimization of payroll data within UKG and prepare for transition to ADP.
  • Identify and implement process improvements for payroll and benefits efficiency.
  • Oversee payroll reconciliations, including insurance and retirement contributions.
  • Manage monthly and year-end payroll close processes, ensuring timely journal entries and reconciliations.
  • Prepare and submit quarterly and annual payroll tax reports, ensuring SOX compliance.
  • Coordinate with benefits team for accurate deduction and payment of health insurance and retirement contributions.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for payroll-related inquiries from employees.
  • Train HR team members on payroll procedures and compliance.
  • Maintain accurate records for internal and external payroll audits.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5-7 years in payroll management with expertise in payroll administration and regulatory compliance.
  • Experience with UKG and ADP systems, particularly in payroll system transitions.
  • Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll and tax laws, with experience in multi-state payroll processing.
  • Analytical and detail-oriented with a track record of troubleshooting payroll discrepancies.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
