About the position

The Payroll & Benefits Specialist will be responsible for the timely and accurate processing of payroll, onboarding new employees, managing employee benefits, and ensuring compliance with payroll tax laws. This role requires a high degree of confidentiality and attention to detail, as well as excellent communication skills to interact with managers and staff effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Process in-house payroll on a bi-weekly, semi-monthly, and monthly basis.
  • Ensure accuracy of payroll taxes and other deductions.
  • Onboard new hires and process terminations for departing employees.
  • Maintain employee records and manage employee benefits administration.
  • Handle medical enrollments, 401k transmissions, vacation pay, paid time-off, and open enrollment.
  • Reconcile general ledger accounts and ensure account balances are correct.
  • Assist with LNI claims management and other general accounting responsibilities as needed.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • Deep understanding of Wage and Hour Laws and Payroll Tax Laws.
  • Excellent communication skills for interacting with managers and staff.
  • Knowledge of accounting and payroll principles.
  • Attention to detail with a high level of accuracy.
  • Knowledge of Garnishment Laws and Regulations.
  • Ability to resolve payroll discrepancies in a timely manner.
  • Ability to manage workflow and prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines.

Nice-to-haves

  • Familiarity with Quarterly Payroll Taxes.
  • Experience with NetChex payroll software.
  • Auto dealership experience is a plus.
  • Strong Excel skills.
