About the position

The Neshaminy School District is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Payroll Bookkeeper to join our Administration offices. This is a full-time, year-round position that plays a crucial role in managing payroll for approximately 1000 employees. The successful candidate will be responsible for all activities related to processing and generating bi-weekly payroll, ensuring accuracy and compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. This position requires a high level of organization and analytical skills to handle various payroll-related tasks effectively. In this role, the Payroll Bookkeeper will review, process, and report on payroll deductions, including federal, state, and local taxes. The individual will assist in payroll calculations, manage salary changes, and ensure timely processing of state retirement reporting. Additionally, the Payroll Bookkeeper will be responsible for responding to inquiries from employees and authorized agencies regarding payroll information, providing accurate and timely information as needed. The position also involves performing various payroll processing activities, such as tax deposits, fund transfers, verification of account distributions, and printing of payroll reports. The Payroll Bookkeeper will prepare federal and state quarterly reports, W-2 forms, and assist with fiscal and calendar year-end closing processes. This role is essential in maintaining the integrity of payroll operations and ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Process and generate bi-weekly payroll for approximately 1000 employees.
  • Review, process, and report federal, state, and local taxes and other payroll deductions.
  • Assist in payroll calculations and editing of salary changes.
  • Process state retirement reporting.
  • Research and provide information to inquiries from employees and authorized agencies regarding payroll information.
  • Perform activities related to payroll processing including tax deposits, fund transfers, and verification of account distributions.
  • Print payroll reports and prepare federal and state quarterly reports, W-2s, and fiscal and calendar year close.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Five years of payroll-related experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Experience with payroll/finance software programs (preferably E-Finance/Powerschool).
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical and organizational skills.
