About the position

The Applied Companies is seeking a motivated Payroll Processor/Bookkeeper for our Carson City client. This position is integral to the team, focusing on processing multiple payrolls for a variety of clients. Unlike traditional in-house payroll roles, this position offers a unique consultative function within a leading Accounting Practice, allowing for skill expansion and professional growth. The Payroll Clerk/Bookkeeper will be responsible for a range of payroll functions, ensuring accuracy and compliance while maintaining a high level of professionalism in handling sensitive information. In this role, you will complete payroll functions including terminations, time sheets, hours, pay rate changes, tax changes, wage garnishments, deductions, direct deposits, benefit adjustments, refunds, and various other inputs. You will also review, verify, and enter payroll data in a timely manner, issue reports, and process payroll checks for distribution. Maintaining 99.99% accuracy in payroll processing is a critical expectation, along with the maintenance of client and employee payroll records. Additionally, the Payroll Clerk/Bookkeeper will conduct light accounting functions using QuickBooks and other accounting solutions, respond to routine inquiries regarding payroll, and prepare and distribute W-2 forms at the end of the year. Daily electronic banking and various business correspondences will also be part of your responsibilities, along with transaction entry, bookkeeping tasks, and bank reconciliation for multiple clients and accounts.

Responsibilities

  • Complete payroll functions including terminations, time sheets, hours, pay rate changes, tax changes, wage garnishments, deductions, direct deposits, benefit adjustments, and refunds.
  • Review, verify, and enter payroll data in a timely manner.
  • Issue reports and process payroll checks for distribution.
  • Strive to maintain 99.99% accuracy when processing payroll for all clients.
  • Maintain client and worksite employee payroll records and files.
  • Conduct light accounting functions using QuickBooks and other accounting solutions.
  • Demonstrate a high level of professionalism in dealing with confidential and sensitive issues.
  • Respond to routine inquiries concerning payroll, garnishments, verifications, etc., as well as required state reporting forms.
  • Prepare and distribute W-2's at year's end.
  • Conduct electronic banking daily.
  • Conduct various business correspondences.
  • Complete transaction entry, bookkeeping tasks, and bank reconciliation functions for multiple clients and accounts.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of end-to-end payroll processing experience.
  • Payroll Professional Certifications (CPP) are a plus.
  • Experience with multistate payroll is preferred.
  • Strong customer service or account management experience.
  • Excellent MS Office experience.
