About the position

The Payroll & Compliance Manager at Oregon Ice Cream LLC is responsible for overseeing payroll preparation, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, and managing employee benefit programs. This role involves maintaining accurate payroll records, processing employee payments, and supporting HR functions, while also participating in audits and managing worker's compensation programs.

Responsibilities

  • Manage payroll preparation and ensure compliance with applicable regulations.
  • Maintain employee benefit and retirement programs, informing employees of details and enrollment periods.
  • Design and maintain a filing and retrieval system for human resource records.
  • Direct the collection, calculation, and entry of payroll data.
  • Review and approve changes in payroll records, including exemptions and job titles.
  • Direct the production and issuance of paychecks or electronic transfers to employees.
  • Maintain reports summarizing earnings, taxes, deductions, and leave.
  • Approve calculations of payroll liabilities, including taxes and employer contributions.
  • Resolve payroll discrepancies and balance payroll accounts.
  • Provide payroll information and support to employees and management.
  • Manage the annual employee review process and support recruitment needs.
  • Oversee the company's Worker's Compensation program and related reporting.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA recording and filing requirements.
  • Participate in payroll and benefit-related audits and conduct annual discrimination testing.
  • Stay informed of legal requirements and advise management on changes.
  • Process payroll and HR-related documents in a timely manner.

Requirements

  • Degree in HR, Business, Accounting, or related field preferred.
  • Experience in business management and good management skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and general Office applications.
  • Ability to meet strict timelines and maintain attention to detail.
  • Good communication and people skills.
