About the position

Squarespace is looking for a Payroll Specialist to join the Payroll function of our growing company. You will work on our Finance team and partner with People Operations and Legal. The Finance Team builds compliant processes that ensure seamless support of our growing organization. As the next member of our team, your work will support this through the preparation, distribution, and reporting of our payroll. This is a hybrid role working from our NYC office. You will report to the Head of Global Payroll & Compliance. In this role, you will provide accurate and timely payroll processing for a 1,800+ growing global workforce located in the US, Ireland, Australia, UK, Portugal, and the Netherlands. You will manage and format complex excel/Google spreadsheets for upload into multiple payroll systems. Your responsibilities will include processing payroll checklists, audits, and reconciliations, and resolving all discrepancies before submission of final payroll. You will facilitate the processing of special transactions such as off-cycle payments, equity, retroactive pay, garnishments, and other statutory deductions. Additionally, you will reconcile quarterly and annual reports to ensure accurate entry of all compensation transactions and help audit employee records in HRIS Workday & payroll systems, in partnership with People and Finance teams, to ensure they are accurate and complete. You will also be responsible for answering employee inquiries, assisting in 401(k) audits, balancing and funding, and coordinating with the Accounting team to provide pay period and month-end close activities and requests. Furthermore, you will partner with the Payroll Manager and supporting departments to help with opportunities to test and automate current processes that promote efficiency and streamline payroll processes. Other tasks and special projects may be assigned as responsibilities dictate.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years experience processing end-to-end payroll at a small to mid-sized global organization.
  • Experience in US federal, state, and local labor laws, payroll tax requirements, payroll regulations and industry changes that affect payroll operations.
  • Global payroll processing experience and taxation knowledge preferably in Ireland and Australia.
  • Experience with payroll systems preferably ADP WorkforceNow for US and international platform Cloudpay.
  • Experience utilizing Workday HCM for timekeeping and reporting.
  • Intermediate to advanced Excel/Google Sheets proficiency and ability to work with large datasets including pivot tables, vlookup and other advanced functions.
  • Capability to handle confidential information in a professional and secure manner.
  • An understanding of payroll practices, legislation and regulation.
  • Experience working in global, multi-state companies.
  • Certified Payroll Professional certification (CPP) or Fundamental Payroll certification (FPC).
