About the position

The Payroll Coordinator at DH Pace Company, Inc. is responsible for overseeing and processing payroll for the organization, ensuring compliance with federal and state laws. This role requires a strong understanding of payroll systems and procedures, as well as collaboration with HR and accounting teams to resolve payroll-related issues. The position emphasizes accuracy, confidentiality, and efficiency in payroll processing.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in processing and oversight of weekly and bi-weekly payroll processing.
  • Develop systems to process payroll account transactions including salaries, benefits, garnishments, deductions, taxes, and third-party payments.
  • Coordinate timekeeping and payroll systems, overseeing payroll changes such as new hires and terminations.
  • Maintain accurate payroll records and prepare reports in the UKG HRIS system.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant laws and internal policies.
  • Work with auditors and manage payroll tax audits.
  • Collaborate with HR and accounting teams to resolve payroll-related issues.
  • Prepare and issue manual checks and same-day wire transfers as required.
  • Prepare required monthly, quarterly, and annual reports, including year-end and tax reconciliation.

Requirements

  • Minimum five (5) years of related multi-state payroll experience.
  • Familiarity with payroll software/HRIS (i.e., UKG, SAP, ADP, Kronos) and MS Office, especially Excel.
  • Bachelor's or Associate's degree in Accounting or Business-related field preferred, or equivalent payroll department experience with a high school diploma.
  • CPP certification encouraged.
  • Current knowledge of payroll procedures and related laws, with an excellent understanding of multi-location payroll and taxes.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to work independently with little supervision, strong analytical and math skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with UKG (formerly UltiPro) and ADP software.
