About the position

The Museum of Science in Boston is seeking a Payroll Specialist to ensure accurate and timely processing of bi-weekly payrolls, maintain payroll records, and support financial reporting. This role is crucial in monitoring time recording, resolving payroll discrepancies, and ensuring compliance with various regulations. The Payroll Specialist will also drive process improvements to enhance payroll efficiency and accuracy, contributing to the overall mission of the museum to inspire a love of science in everyone.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure bi-weekly payrolls are processed in a timely and accurate manner, meeting deadlines for transmission.
  • Review exempt and non-exempt personnel time for compliance with company policy and regulatory requirements.
  • Correct errors in computed wages to ensure accuracy of employee earnings.
  • Organize and maintain payroll-related records, ensuring data integrity and confidentiality.
  • Provide accurate payroll data to the finance team for reporting, budgeting, and audits.
  • Ensure timely contributions to pension plans to meet regulatory funding requirements.
  • Address employee inquiries and resolve payroll discrepancies promptly and professionally.
  • Support audits related to payroll, pension, grants, workers comp, and OSHA compliance.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance payroll processes and implement automation for efficiency.
