About the position

The HR Generalist plays a crucial role in supporting daily HR and payroll operations within a union and non-union workforce at Transdev. This position is primarily responsible for recruiting and payroll functions across multiple sites, while also serving as a backup for other HR Generalists. The role involves managing inquiries about policies and benefits, participating in disciplinary meetings, assisting with investigations, and ensuring compliance with HR regulations and trends.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine and non-routine tasks related to payroll processing, including manual check requests and various reports.
  • Maintain and audit PTO accruals for all positions.
  • Act as a liaison between the corporate office, benefit providers, and employees for leave payments and beneficiary payouts.
  • Conduct periodic audits of HR/Payroll files to ensure proper documentation is collected and filed.
  • Answer frequently asked questions from applicants and employees regarding policies, benefits, and hiring processes.
  • Handle employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex matters to senior HR staff.
  • Participate in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
  • Maintain the integrity and confidentiality of employee records through data entry and auditing.
  • Recruit, interview, and facilitate the hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions.
  • Conduct background checks and employee eligibility verifications.
  • Implement new hire orientation and employee engagement programs.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment and payroll laws.
  • Stay updated on trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and innovative technologies in HR.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required; or minimum of 5 years of experience in Human Resources.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and delegate when appropriate.
  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
  • Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Ability to quickly learn the organization's HRIS and talent management systems.
  • Strong math skills.
  • Experience with Union payroll & benefits.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
  • SHRM-CP or PHR certification.
  • Proficient level experience with ADP Enterprise.
