About the position

Tennant Packaging Corporation (TPC) specializes in innovative packaging solutions for the clinical trial, laboratory research, and pharmaceutical fields while also providing alternative packaging solutions for various other industries. Founded in 2002, the company has grown to serve the global marketplace with locations in the United States and Belgium. We are currently looking to fill a Full-Time Payroll - HR Specialist to our team. This position will be responsible for supporting management in the processing of payroll for both direct and temporary employees. In addition, this position will serve as administrative support to the HR Manager, VP of Operations, and other management staff. The Payroll - HR Specialist will process weekly and bi-weekly payroll for approximately 150 to 200 employees across two shifts, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in payroll processing. This role will also involve resolving payroll discrepancies and serving as the staffing coordinator between supervisors and temporary agencies, effectively communicating staffing needs and terminations. The specialist will coordinate with the Training department to facilitate the onboarding of new hires and temporary employees, ensuring they are set up correctly within the payroll system, including E-Verify, and will provide training on the timekeeping system. Additionally, the Payroll - HR Specialist will generate routine and as-needed reports related to attendance and hours worked, oversee benefit enrollment, and assist the benefits representative in addressing employee inquiries regarding benefits. The role will also include managing office supplies, performing receptionist duties, and supporting the VP of Operations and other management with routine administrative tasks and special projects as assigned. This position requires utmost confidentiality and dependability, as well as strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Process weekly & bi-weekly payroll for direct and temporary employees with Payroll service and temp agencies.
  • Resolve payroll discrepancies.
  • Serve as the staffing coordinator between supervisors and temporary agencies in communicating staffing needs & terminations.
  • Coordinate with the Training department the onboarding of new hires & temps.
  • Set up new hires & temps within the payroll system (to include E-Verify) & train new employees in the timekeeping system.
  • Generate routine & as needed reports (attendance, hours etc.).
  • Oversee benefit enrollment and assist benefit representative in getting employees answers to benefit questions.
  • Assist employees with phone apps (payroll, benefits etc.).
  • Manage office supplies.
  • Perform receptionist duties.
  • Support VP of Operations and other management on routine administrative tasks and special projects.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of payroll processing experience preferably in ADP.
  • 2+ years in an administrative support role.
  • Fluent in speaking & reading Spanish highly preferred.
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office; Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook.
  • Advanced communication skills with the ability to interact well with all levels of associates, speak articulately, and write with polished vocabulary.
  • Strong sense of initiative and independent problem-solving.
  • Diligent, accurate and positive.
  • Organized and strong attention to detail.

Nice-to-haves

  • ADP Payroll experience (1 year preferred).
  • Benefits administration experience (1 year preferred).
  • Spanish language proficiency (preferred).
