About the position

The Payroll/HR Specialist at Southwest Boulder & Stone plays a crucial role in supporting the Human Resources and Payroll divisions. This position is primarily focused on full cycle payroll processing, ensuring compliance with company policies and state laws, while also assisting with various HR functions such as onboarding, employee relations, and benefits administration. The role requires a blend of payroll expertise and HR knowledge, making it essential for maintaining accurate employee records and facilitating a smooth onboarding process.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor timekeeping system for accuracy and readiness for payroll processing.
  • Prepare and process bi-weekly payroll in accordance with company policies and state laws.
  • Review, audit, and submit payroll every two weeks by the required deadline.
  • Assist with talent acquisition, including job postings, recruitment, screening, and onboarding.
  • Conduct or coordinate new hire orientation to ensure understanding of company policies.
  • Support employee relations while adhering to company policies.
  • Provide guidance to management and staff regarding benefits and payroll inquiries.
  • Assist with employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
  • Maintain compliance with employment laws and regulations.
  • Assist with workers compensation investigations and reporting.
  • Support benefits administration and communicate benefits information to employees.
  • Process claims associated with disability and EDD or other agencies.
  • Maintain HR information system records and compile reports.
  • Ensure employee personnel files are complete and up to date.
  • Prepare employee separation notices and conduct exit interviews.
  • Assist with special projects or events as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience in a human resources role with increasing responsibilities.
  • 3+ years of experience in full cycle payroll processing.
  • Prior experience with ADP Workforce Now is ideal.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office software (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Credential in human resources related field preferred (SHRM, PHR, etc.).
  • General knowledge of Human Resources best practices, policies, and regulations.
