About the position

As a Payroll and HRIS Administrator at Blanton Turner, you will oversee payroll operations and provide exceptional payroll assistance to employees. This role involves managing payroll processes, creating training materials, advising managers on HRIS systems, and supporting day-to-day HR and benefits administration. You will work closely with an HRIS consultant to streamline workflows and continuously seek to improve processes.

Responsibilities

  • Process semi-monthly payroll and timesheets, including retroactive payments.
  • Act as a resource for employee payroll and 401k questions, creating documentation that states payroll needs from management.
  • Communicate payroll deadlines and analyze, prepare, and oversee all inputs of payroll data.
  • Ensure compliance with state and federal wage and hour laws, working with employment attorneys as needed.
  • Prepare and distribute payroll-related reports for management and maintain knowledge of applicable laws.
  • Design systems to facilitate payroll-related documents and gather feedback for process improvements.
  • Provide training documents and virtual/in-person training for management on payroll processes.
  • Coordinate internal transfer processes and develop new systems to eliminate current Change Forms.
  • Administer employee benefits programs and assist with open enrollment activities.
  • Manage updates to benefit processes based on business and industry needs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 3 years' experience with increasing payroll responsibility for 100 or more employees.
  • General knowledge of employment laws and practices for WA and OR states.
  • Experience in the administration of benefits and compensation programs.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proactive problem solver with strong research skills.
  • Highly organized with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Compensation strategy and advisement experience.
  • Experience with Paylocity or similar HRIS systems.
