The Payroll & HRIS Analyst is primarily responsible for processing payroll and maintaining the employee database regarding salary and pay as well as managing our internal databases, keeping employee records in digital formats, and educating users on how to use our HR systems. They will have the ability to interact with all levels in the company using tact, patience, and professional courtesy and demonstrate a sense of urgency and teamwork as well as timely and accurate follow-through. This role requires a strong understanding of payroll processes, compliance with regulations, and the ability to analyze data to improve HR strategies and processes. The analyst will also lead HRIS-related projects, ensuring data accuracy and integrity through regular audits and validation checks.

Responsibilities

  • Administer bi-weekly payroll for multiple states & Canada.
  • Resolve payroll discrepancies and irregularities.
  • Ensure accurate taxation and garnishment is applied to each account.
  • Participate in end-of-month closing and audits.
  • Conduct year-end reporting for W-2s, etc.
  • Comply with local, state, and federal payroll regulations to questions and special requests from regulatory agencies.
  • Research laws and regulations regarding taxes and payroll withholding procedures.
  • Handle tax issues, and 401k as it relates to payroll processing.
  • Ensure data accuracy and integrity by conducting regular audits and validation checks.
  • Collect data and analyze it to improve HR strategies and processes.
  • Act as a liaison between end-users and technical teams to address user concerns and implement system improvements.
  • Lead HRIS-related projects, such as system upgrades, implementations, or integrations with other systems.
  • Create reports for stakeholders.
  • Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED required, Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in HR or related field preferred.
  • 2+ years of payroll experience; significant experience working in multi-state payroll is a plus.
  • Solid working knowledge of tax code; strong knowledge of applicable state and federal laws.
  • Analytical and able to develop alternative solutions in solving problems.
  • Professional demeanor and ability to defuse emotional situations in a calm manner.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and good judgment.
  • Proven ability to work independently.
  • Mature, energetic, and able to take on challenging work.
  • Flexibility with ability to overcome obstacles to meet deadlines.
  • Advanced written and verbal communication skills; detail oriented and strong organizational skills.
  • Excellent computer skills with intermediate to advanced knowledge of Word (document merge), Excel (formulas, pivot tables, Vlookups), PowerPoint, Outlook, Adobe Acrobat and HRIS required.
  • Ability to prioritize in a time-sensitive, deadline driven environment; possess excellent time, project, and process management skills.
  • Required to have a strong comfort-level communicating throughout all levels of the organization.
  • Strong knowledge of business arithmetic and an innate ability to identify and resolve issues in a timely manner as well as gathering and analyzing information skillfully.
  • Strong ability to adapt to changing priorities, and work with a sense of urgency.
