About the position

The Payroll-HRIS Specialist at Financial One Accounting Inc. is responsible for processing payroll, benefits administration, employee onboarding, and HRIS implementation for multiple clients. This role requires intermediate skills and involves routine communication with clients and internal teams to ensure accurate payroll processing and compliance with multi-state laws. The specialist will also participate in system implementations and maintain documentation of standard processes to promote continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Accurately prepares, documents, reconciles and transmits payrolls for multiple clients, ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant multi-state laws and regulations.
  • Calculates and processes employee wages, overtime, garnishments, tax levies, child support orders, deductions, and sets up direct deposits while maintaining confidentiality and data integrity.
  • Regularly runs various payroll reports to audit and analyze computation of pay and associated deductions for accuracy.
  • Conducts background checks, onboards new hires, and assists with benefits administration including tracking enrollment and COBRA administration.
  • Communicates with clients regarding missing or inaccurate information and performs system level setup for payroll and HRIS administration.
  • Creates and/or runs reports as requested by Accountants, Controllers, CFOs, and/or clients.
  • Processes requests for verifications of employment and prepares manual checks for corrections as approved by Controller.
  • Ensures up-to-date documentation of standard processes with a focus on streamlining and continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 4 years of payroll processing/HRIS experience preferred or any equivalent combination of experience, education, and/or training approved by Human Resources.
  • Intermediate knowledge of payroll processing and calculating, including wage withholding orders and garnishments.
  • Experience with HRIS system administration preferred, specifically ADP Workforce Now platform.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and various automated payroll processing systems.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience using ADP automated payroll processing system preferred.
