About the position

The HR Generalist/Payroll Specialist at GT Landscape Solutions plays a crucial role in fostering a workplace culture centered on honesty, innovation, and transparency. This position is responsible for supporting various HR functions, including employee relations, payroll processing, talent acquisition, training, and compliance with regulations. The specialist will ensure a positive work environment by promoting the company's core values and providing guidance to management and employees.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain an atmosphere of friendly, enthusiastic customer service with an emphasis on employee care.
  • Ensure hiring activities comply with company policies and state/federal regulations.
  • Oversee new employee onboarding, orientation, and training.
  • Provide guidance to management regarding discipline, documentation of performance issues, and compliance with policies and regulations.
  • Facilitate communication between employees, supervisors, and managers.
  • Support supervisors and managers in interpreting and applying company policies and employment laws.
  • Facilitate the 'Light Duty/Return to Work' program and oversee workers' compensation claims processing.
  • Maintain and process semi-monthly payroll, including tracking hours and ensuring correct deductions.
  • Maintain confidentiality and integrity in handling sensitive information.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or equivalent education and experience.
  • At least two years of experience in a human resource position with progressive responsibility.
  • Experience processing payroll with strong attention to detail.
  • Experience conducting interviews and providing recommendations based on research and analysis.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with team members and employees.
  • Proactive, dependable, self-directed, and attentive to detail.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with workers' compensation and safety regulations.
  • Knowledge of employment law.
