About the position

The Payroll Manager at Yancey Bros. Co. is responsible for overseeing the payroll department, ensuring timely and accurate payroll processing in compliance with government regulations. This role involves managing payroll staff, resolving payroll errors, and maintaining payroll systems, while also coordinating with finance and HR departments to ensure smooth operations.

Responsibilities

  • Recruit, interview, hire, and train new payroll staff.
  • Oversee the daily workflow of the payroll department.
  • Ensure fair and consistent accountability among staff.
  • Provide constructive and timely performance evaluations.
  • Coordinate with finance and HR departments.
  • Resolve payroll errors and verify payroll runs.
  • Implement, maintain, and review payroll processing systems for accuracy and timeliness.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate records and reports of payroll transactions.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll laws and best practices.
  • Facilitate audits by providing necessary records and documentation.
  • Identify and recommend updates to payroll processing software and procedures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Human Resources, or related field required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of related payroll experience.
  • Extensive experience with UKG Payroll software is strongly preferred.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a similar supervisory role in payroll management.
  • Knowledge of payroll management software beyond UKG.
  • Experience in a fast-paced work environment.
