About the position

The Payroll Manager position involves overseeing the payroll operations for a dynamic construction firm. This role is crucial for succession planning and requires collaboration with HR, IT, and Accounting departments. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on professional with expertise in payroll management and process optimization, thriving in a collaborative environment.

Responsibilities

  • Manage payroll in JD Edwards and Oracle HCM Cloud, ensuring accuracy in earnings, deductions, benefits, and taxes.
  • Handle union reports, tax filings, and final payments.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax filings.
  • Manage year-end reporting, W-2 preparation, and system updates for tax regulations.
  • Act as the Project Manager for payroll-related projects.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop the payroll team, fostering a collaborative and efficient environment.
  • Stay updated on payroll regulations and best practices through Oracle user groups and the American Payroll Association.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field.
  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP).
  • 7+ years of proven in-house payroll processing experience, ideally in construction and union settings.
  • Experience with calculating and filing taxes for multi-state payroll.
